Sunday September 14th, 2008 13:03 Bugoy for the Win!

The three month-long Pinoy Dream Academy is down to its final night when the winner for this season would be announced later at the Cuneta Astrodome. I’ve been irregularly following this show since they started airing the auditions and the moment I saw Jay Bogayon (Bugoy) sing, he won me over already. It’s amazing how he has transformed from a simple student in the province with a great voice:

…to a very energetic performer who can bring the house down:

I am amazed by his natural vocal talent. Never mind if he’s not as good-looking as the other dreamers. What really brought him close to my heart is his unique voice  and I think more than anyone else, he deserves the prize money, which, unfortunately, I don’t have any idea how much would be (but I sure know it could buy him a lot of Nautica watches). Most often in popularity contests like this, the most financially inadept contestant wins because s/he wins the public sympathy. Yes, Bugoy is impoverished, but in his case I believe his talent shines more than anything else – yes, even more than being a master to Goofy. :)

So who are you voting for?

Sunday September 7th, 2008 19:40 And the cheerdance crown goes to…

…my alma mater, UP!

For the second straight year, UP wins the UAAP Cheerdance Competition. Yay for UP! UST and FEU placed second and third respectively.

It’s really funny and albeit ironic that my school started placing 2nd the moment us, 2002 student number holders entered UP. The moment we graduated, the crown went back to UP. Haha. Hindi kaya ako ang may balat sa pwet? =P

Congrats to the UP Pep Squad. You guys make us really proud! =) See you again next year! Thanks for your hard work.

Someone posted this as a comment in my youtube video; allegedly the results of this afternoon’s competition:

UP 93.30
UST 85.27
FEU 83.96
ADMU 83.81
AdU 81.04
UE 72.89
DLSU 70.07
NU 68.3

And finally, here are the videos from the cheerdance competition that I managed to record and upload to youtube, which is basically from start to finish. LOL. Enjoy! (a click on a google ad as a sign of gratitude is most welcome!)

Sunday September 7th, 2008 19:32 PDA Dream Bigayan Night

I know, this should have been posted in my entertainment blog, but since What Now? (http://whatnow.890m.com) has gone bonkers since last night and these videos begged to be published and shared, I’ve decided to just put it here since this blog has turned into a mix of sorts anyway. So, where was I again?

Yeah. It was never a secret how I am a big fan of Pinoy Dream Academy though I must admit I don’t regularly watch them save for their gala nights. My bet from way way back the auditions was Jay Bogayon or known simply as Bugoy, that farmer’s son whose natural vocal talent awed and surprised me. He still remains to be my favorite. Laarni and Liezel are both great contenders for the crown too, but my votes still go to Bugoy.

Enough talk. Here are the videos from the Dream Bigayan Night where the scholars sang and danced for their respective charities after the jump. Enjoy!
