I heard from the grapevine how peyups.com, the message board of the iskolar ng bayan has been reopened for new registrants. Gone are the days when only the privileged few could access the message boards and post their hearts away. I remember back in the days (hehe) when I was still a college freshie trying to figure out the ins and outs of the UP system. Message boards were the hype then. Microblogging sites like twitter and plurk were still figments of their founders’ imaginations. It was then when I discovered peyups.com. I was one of the lucky few who got hold of an account (or in my case, two) before they closed the forum to new registrants. Now, it’s back and the giddy college students of the premier state university are all excited. As for me, I realized I am too old to engage in lengthy discussions with the new brood of college students. They are still full of vigor and yes, so much idealism. In fact, I could see myself in some of them and I just smile fondly of those times when I remember them. Peyups.com had been a vital part of my life. I was an active forumer and a writer for peyups having had a few of my works published online. Now that the hype over the well-loved and almost-forgotten forum is back, I feel like it’s circa 2002 once again. It’s like the plastic knobs of the doors of the past have been turned open. Inasmuch as I wanted to join in and feel like a college kid all over again. I realized something I very conveniently overlooked: I forgot my password to my account.
Guess who’s getting really old?

Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.
