Yes you. Being able to surf the internet to read this blog entry just shows how you have enough money to spare for leisure while the vast majority of the population hasn’t even touched an old worn-out computer. Sometimes, we are too busy wondering about how to pay for our life’s leisures and pleasures like that car insurance you got for your new Honda Civic or that dress that cost more than a thousand bucks you saw in a posh window store, that we conveniently forget the fate of the less fortunate of our kind. I see them everyday - in the streets, in the hospital… yet, have we done something for them? To at least help ease out their suffering?
I was moved and touched by this short film made by Ferdinand Dimadura entitled “Chicken a la Carte” which won “Most Popular Short Film” at the 56th Berlin International Film Festival in 2006. I rarely post videos but I believe it is my duty as a human to share this to the whole world.
I’ve been doing a lot of online window-shopping these past few days in search for the perfect swimsuit for my beachscapades in April. Last year, I found such good finds at the Landmark (the place to shop!) at very affordable prices. This year, my month-long summer break starts in April and because of my very tight schedule as a medical clerk, I wouldn’t be able to go mall-hopping to search for the perfect pair in time for my love affair with the sea and the sand. So for the uber-busy me, the next best place to shop is online. So what good finds do we have out there?
First, I’ll be featuring swimwear for small-busted women like moi. Most petite girls who don’t have to lose weight for summer have small bust and only a very lucky few petite Filipinas have cup sizes larger within the B and C range.
For those small on top, you can do well with push-up, underwire, padded tops or triangle tops, the last of which look best on women with smaller breasts. You can also opt for string bikinis which are best recommended because they can be tied tight to better fit a petite frame. For designs and details, you may opt for horizontal stripes, smocking and ruffles along the neckline which help make you look wider than you really are. And if you’re wearing patterns, look for smaller patterns and shy away from bigger ones because they will just enhance your small breasts. A perfect example is the one on the left, “Elle” from Cocomobeachwear (P1,299). It’s a triangle string top with small patterns and ruffle details along the neckline which best flatters a small-breasted figure. A cheaper option would be one of my faves from The Beachy Life’s Beach Deity Collection: Annapurna (P895). I just love the combination of oriental print brown and happy red. Too conservative for separates? You can also strut your stuff in one-piece cutout suits which create curves. Most fashion experts agree that small-busted women should avoid wearing bandeau-style tops. I have to agree. It flattens the already non-existent chest. LOL. Also, generally avoid vertical stripes - unless of course you want to personify Olive Oyl in bikinis.
I was browsing through my friends’ facebook pages earlier and while I yet have to receive wedding invitations from really close friends, I realized how a handful of my grade school and high school classmates have started having kids and building their own families – married or not. Looking at their babies’ pictures, I couldn’t help but feel left out. Not that I’m wishing I already have my own. It’s just that I feel I’m still living an adolescent’s life while they’re all living in the grown-ups’ world already. Talk about extended adolescence eh? Good thing back here in med school, majority of my classmates, friends and even some of my residents have remained single despite their age. Hehe. At least I don’t feel alone right smack in my world. I’m no longer wondering why there are a lot of successful single doctors out there. The world of medicine cultivates that kind of life particularly. Have a pleasant night everyone.
I couldn’t help not to smile with what happened to me earlier. I was on my way back to the doctor’s callroom when I almost bumped into my new crush. I was about to walk down the stairs and he was incidentally climbing up and we were both on the same side of the staircase. To my shock, I suddenly blurted a shy “Hi doc” to which he replied with a simple hello. My heart was fluttering. Haha. I went back to the unit to check on my patient’s chart and we were standing side-by-side at the nurse’s station. I wasn’t minding him – or at least I was trying not to - but I swear I saw him look at me in my peripheral view. When he finished with what was doing, he tapped me on the back as he was about to leave. Hehe. I wish he didn’t notice that silly smile plastered across my face. Haha. Talandi!
At times like this, I wish Jen or Jessa were here. Back when they were still around, I’d immediately text or call Jen or Jessa and tell them about this very silly and childish fangirl stuff. Too bad I only have Mela now.
On Saturday will be their 40th day from death and we’ll be celebrating a mass for them. Mela and I are going shopping tomorrow for the things we need for the offertory. Who knows? I might be able to snag a few things for summer like discount shades from Fly Wear or a cute summery blouse to wear for my trips. Exciting.
And yeah before I forget. Of course this is just a fangirl thing. I still love Bee. Much. =)
There’s no stopping it. I can smell the end of my clerkship. It feels like we only started yesterday. Looking back to the months that passed, I can’t believe it’s almost over and soon, we’ll be wearing that white coat we have dreamed of for years. Daryl, Karen and I went to the tailor today to fit the intern’s uniform that we had made. It feels surreal to wear the coat on top of my uniform. It’s exciting to look forward to what’s going to be in store for me starting May.
But before everything else, of course there’s the summer vacation we’re all looking forward to. So far, I have Isabela/Ilocos, Pangasinan and Sagada in my itinerary. If I had it my way, I’d spend the whole April traveling, or in beach houses, battling it out with my friends on nice ping pong tables, or drinking away under the starlit sky. But alas. Money is still the name of the game. At times like this, I wish I were the daughter of a popular scion with a bottomless bank account. But then again I wouldn’t have entered med school then if my hands were full of businesses to run right? Just a few nights to go! I can’t wait!
I am currently staying at the Medicine Conference Room which they say is haunted. I am not usually easily freaked out - well, not at least when there are other awake people around but there aren’t. The residents who also stay here at night are all fast asleep. I can’t. That’s the problem. So you know what I did? I discovered an endless night of music will make you more comfortable even if the pin light above you is flickering endlessly. God. I am scaring myself. Haha. Anyway, to keep me busy, I decided to google my new crush here in the hospital. Imagine my joy when I dug up his old friendster account and saw he’s single. Hehe. Such joy seeing him out of that scrubsuit and into a pair of casual jeans. I was looking for a nice picture of him in a tuxedo but can’t find any. I bet he looks cuter in that.
