Banapple Pies and Cheesecakes
2L Il Terrazo
Tomas Morato cor. Sct Madrinan, South Triangle QC
————————————
It was half-impromptu and half-planned. I was thinking of going out with my housemates for a birthday treat but had not really thought of where we were going. Living literally a stone’s throw away from Tomas Morato, I knew it wasn’t much of a problem. When we were finally cruising the streets of Quezon City, my friends suggested two places: TOSH (The Old Spaghetti House located along Timog Ave.) and the new branch of Banapple located at Il Terrazo (corner Sct. Madrinan and Timog Ave). I’ve heard of Banapple a couple of times but I’ve never had the chance to enjoy the food they were offering. So when Banapple won in the end, I was glad that I’d be able to experience firsthand the Banapple craze. And boy, I don’t regret going there for a bit.
The place was rather small and could only sit a few customers inside but they did put out a couple of tables outside to maximize the seating capacity of the place. But what I liked most about this place is the very cheerful interior which matched my already cheerful mood. I did find the tables which were made of marbles (the kind young boys play with) set in cement very creative and unique.
The place is best when there’s just a few of you inside but could get too cramped when there’s a lot of customers queuing for the counter. That aside, I can say that the food is indeed marvelous for its very pocket-friendly price. I had one of their entrees: Hickory Smoked Barbecued Country Ribs which was served with spiced corn and garlic rice (sorry no picture!). It was indeed very tasty but I have to agree with Bee that it’s madaling makasawa. Probably best eaten with water than iced tea because my tastebuds got too overwhelmed with all those flavors. Hehe. My friends also gave me my birthday cake: a slice of the much-loved Banoffee Pie. The verdict? Five stars! Hooray! Now, I know why Jen’s been craving for a Banoffee pie the whole day.
To sum it up, I find Banapple one of the must-try restaurants/cafes in the Tomas Morato area especially if you’re looking for good food that is easy on the budget. Pies and cheesecakes range from P70 to P120 per slice. Price from entrees range from P120 to P160 and for the quality of the food, I must say it’s so worth it!
So what’s the score?
Location (Accessibility, Parking):
-Il Terrazo is like a mini-mall (but with not-so-limited parking space) so it’s hard to miss. There’s no need for GPS! It’s located right across the Belo Medical Group.
