How come guys can be really, really insensitive? How can they stand being such?

I know they’re not psychics, nor can they read other people’s minds but then again, there are just some things that you don’t need or have to tell them so that they’d understand. Us girls aren’t asking much. Just a teensy-weensy bit of sensitivity on their part will do. If guys would go and argue with me that a girl, in order to understand her, MUST tell them what she feels, then I’d probably would have gone out with a robot than a guy with an IQ instead. After all, it doesn’t make much of a difference does it?

I am amazed at the brilliance of event organizers and how they manage to successfully put together and hold exhibits. We see events like these most often at the malls, situationally located to attract crowds. You know a successful event when you see one: everything goes on smoothly and the place looks superb. Sometimes I wonder where the brains behind such exhibits get the ideas for the trade show concept. I was able to get my hands to work on some simple exhibits back in the years and definitely, the crude materials we used to use don’t have a place in the “real exhibit world”.

The likes of Camelback Displays, an exhibit house that provides materials to come up with well-thought of trade show displays definitely come in handy when one needs to organize a display event. They provide virtually everything that an organizer needs: from exhibit truss, trade show flooring, furnitures, stages, banner stands and even that table top resting on the display table. Every year, thousands of companies holding various displays and exhibits seek their services and they take pride on giving 100% customer satisfaction since 1999. What is good about this service is that they have virtually a vast array of products to choose from - products which come in all sizes and shapes suited from large exhibit events to small trade show gatherings. The products they offer also come in prices sure to fit any company’s budget. Those with tight finances may find the budget packages such as budget pop up displays and budget panel systems especially easy on the pocket.

Still not sure of the look and feel of your exhibit? Camelback Displays also provide website visitors with a glimpse of the various exhibits they have been a part of through a gallery showcase. One can browse through this gallery to get an idea for his/her own exhibit needs or probably to simply witness the exhibit house in action. I find the gallery helpful especially if the exhibit will just be a small one with no professional events organizer to help you out. With all these great things they provide you with, Camelback is an organizer’s dream. Definitely a one-stop shop for organizing exhibits and trade show displays. Think you need their help? Give their website a visit at: http://www.camelbackdisplays.com/.

I just got home - literally from my dance class at Peak Performance. I’ve been attending Hip-Hop dance classes since April but since I missed out on most of it last May (they’re holding Hip-Hop only every Saturday), I still have a number of classes more to consume until my Peak Pass expires on the 12th of July. At Peak Performance, they’re offering what they call Peak Passes, wherein you pay a certain fee to take up a number of classes, regardless of what dance genre you choose. They’re offering Jazz, Bellydance, Hip-Hop and Striptease (I don’t know when it’s gonna start though, I just saw it on their schedule) and Yogilates. A P4000 Peak Pass is good for 15 sessions consumable for 3 months. Since I’m marking my third month on the 12th, I decided to try out Yogilates (Yoga and Pilates combined) this morning. It sure looked relaxing - for an observer at least; but when I was the one doing the exercises already, I wanted to curse myself. It was relaxing, yes, but I think that feeling’s gonna come after the exercises. I’m likening it to passing through a needle hole. You need to go through the pain first. Anyway, I think in the long run, I’m gonna be getting the hang of doing Yoga/Pilates exercises. After all, it was only my first time.

Peak Performance is the dance studio owned by Miss Jill Ngo-Crisologo with address at 2/F McGwen Building, 16 Don A. Roces Avenue. Quezon City. (It’s in the same building as Center for Pop Music Philippines). Interested? Contact Peak Performance at 413-3466 or text Miss Jill 0917-6247534. They also have dance classes (such as bellydance) for kids. A whole day of dance and music will be held on June 28, 2008 at the Glorietta Mall Activity Center, venue for the 2nd Annual Philippines Belly Festival (Bellyfest 2008). Of course, I won’t be there.

In my chosen career, I’m bound to deal with highfalutin words and jargons left and right. The sad fact is that no matter how many books and journals I read, remembering each and every meaning of the words and jargons I encounter is next to impossible. Back in the heydays, the good old thick dictionary is everyone’s best buddy when one comes across a word that needs to be clarified. These days have been much different. The benefits of having almost everything accessible online has never been more evident with the ease it has brought to people from all walks of life especially to students like me who do a lot of research. When I come across words that need instant definition, I visit a reliable online dictionary like Babylon.

What I like most about this website is that it’s not your typical online dictionary. Babylon is a dictionary, glossary, thesaurus and an encyclopedia all rolled into one. This free online tool is a student’s new best buddy because you get to access a wide array of information from an extensive collection in one single click. Before, if you want to get a definition of something, you go to your favorite online dictionary’s website, type in the term and the dictionary’s definition of the term will be shown. If you’re not satisfied with the definition, you go type in the same term in a different online dictionary - separately. Now, if you need more extensive information about the term, one will most likely visit an online encyclopedia to search for it. For lazier searchers, the good old search engine would be their most likely solution for their searching needs. It’s a lot easier than going to websites one by one but then again, the results of search engines are not always 100% relevant to what you’re looking for. This online dictionary I’m talking about, however, makes things a lot easier because it shows you everything indexed in their collection regarding your search term from dictionaries down to encyclopedia entries. What’s cooler is that Babylon also offers online translation of words and full texts across major languages for free! Really, Babylon is one great find online. In fact, I’m bookmarking it now. You will too, won’t you?

As I was on my home this afternoon, I saw one of the most heartwarming sights I’ve seen: a guy pushing his kariton with a dog in tow.

I am an animal lover and my friends know me for having a soft spot for animals - stray and sheltered alike. A lab rat (the big white one usually used in scientific experiments) and a kitten are just some of the stray animals I once brought home. In my country, animal laws are not as strict as in other countries like the US. The Philippines is not as animal-friendly like animal advocates want this country to be. There is still a long, long way to go for us if we want life for the animals that co-exist with us to be better. The sight I saw this afternoon was heartwarming for the simple fact of how one who is in need himself is still able to care for an animal who would likely be dependent on him for food, shelter, protection and love. This was not the first time I’ve seen a homeless person adopt a pet for himself. Countless times I’ve witnessed such kindness in different situations. If they can do this when they are in need themselves, I wonder how come people who are better off can’t do the same thing themselves. There are a lot of animals needing our care and protection and more importantly, love. They shouldn’t be left loitering the streets, they deserve a home where they will be treated as part of a loving family.

I’ve long wanted to be a part of PAWS or the Philippine Animal Welfare Society but the distance proved to be a challenge for me before when I used to live down south of the Metro. Now that I’m already in QC, it’s the burden of being a medical student that’s being a hindrance for me. I cannot volunteer myself now but I’m inviting my animal-loving readers living in the Philippines to volunteer at PAWS to help a lot of animals in need. I may not be able to take some action now - physically at least, but I’m hoping that someone can do the kindness for me.

Perhaps you’re the one I’m looking for.

Getting married is probably one of the most, if not, the most beautiful and most exciting thing that could happen to a woman. Countless of times I’ve dreamed of walking down that aisle wearing that long, white gown as my groom excitingly waits for me down the altar. The image of that special day is perfect in my mind. But then again, an everyday married life is anything but that perfect day. After the ceremonial rites tie the bride and groom as one forever, things become really different when they now face the reality of what a married life is. » Continue Reading
